Questions for Maya Jupiter

Hello, my name is Karen Velderrain-Lopez and I am a UW freshman and Computer Engineering major. I really enjoyed your Madre Tierra video and thought it was really provoking. I loved the emphasis on female solidarity, strength, and inclusion. I am a Chicana, but I am not really connected to my Mexican roots as much as I would like, and at times I feel bad about it. Hearing about your story and your identity has been really beneficial to me because it motivates me to not feel ashamed and that I am a Latina regardless.

My questions are:
1) What did you take away from running hip hop workshops and what impact did you see from it?
2) What do you hope people, especially Latinas, take away from your work? Also, how has your identity influenced your progression in your career?

Thank you!
