In “Sobreviviendo”: Immigration Stories and Testimonio in Song", Gonzalez states, "Recordings, lyrics, and performances of these songs stand to be remembered, revisited, reconstructed, critiqued, or honored by future generations." (137) How does the preservation of "Sobrevivendo" combat social death as described by Lisa Cacho?

"No gloves or disinfectant supplies, he said. No conversation about avoiding crowded carpools to work, no changes to ensure more physical distance in the fields. " (revealnew.org). Migrant farm workers lack representation in places of power to enact change. What are some ways that marginalized workers can/should protest to gain recognition as truly 'essential' workers to the community? 

"For every $1 of liquid assets of a white family, the median black family has only 32 cents, while the median Hispanic family has 47 cents." (Cnn.com) What are the ways in which we can bring greater awareness to wealth disparity in the U.S? What policies could help overcome systemic wealth inequality?

"All of us are children of immigrants, and this issue hits us very hard in a very guttural and emotional way," says Herrera. "So we wanted to be able to contribute any little piece of art that we have to this mosaic of social justice." (NPR.com) In what ways does music/art differ in its approach to inciting change in the status quo?
