Questions for Alice Bag: Grace Grotz

Hi Alice, my name is Grace Grotz and I’m a freshman at UW. Thank you for taking the time to speak to our class. Here are my questions:

1. In Dr. Habell-Pallán’s Death to Racism and Punk Rock Revisionism, you are described as an artist who “pierces through the limited definitions and social narratives of womanhood” (258). Who are female role models you look up to and are inspired by?
2. Your songs share powerful messages. The music video “White Justice” seemed inspired by recent events involving police violence and possibly personal events you have experienced and “Sister Dynamite” speaks to the empowering Me Too movement of this decade. When creating your songs, where do you usually find inspiration? Are there unconscious influences that impact your work?
