Questions for Alice Bag - Angie Lai

Hi Alice, thank you for taking the time to discuss your work with our class, it means so much!
  1. In your "Sister Dynamite" video, I really enjoyed the visuals and the 70s inspired style of everything. It seems like today, people are very nostalgic about that time-period and we see a lot of 70s influences in fashion and art. My understanding is that Hollywood Punk came about in the 70s as well, and I'm curious as to how you think times have changed. Is the Hollywood punk scene alive? How has it changed? Do you find it even more accepting today?
  1. In Death to Racism and Punk Rock Revisionism, professor MHP writes, "punk's contradictions and messy politics lead to unexpected musical creations" (249). Have you seen a continuation of this? Can you recommend any artists or bands today that reinforce these Chicana feminist notions in music?
