4/20 Questions - Olivia Brunner-Gaydos

1. How often are altars built for social movements? It seems like the majority of the time altars are built to remember family or friends who have passed away but are their ever altars to remember victims of things like police brutality?

2. What are some ways the day of the dead traditions have been impacted by the United States over the years? Do people celebrate the day of the dead differently in the United States verse Mexico?

3. In the video, NEA National Heritage Tribute Video: Ofelia Esparza, Rosanna mentions "there's this oral tradition that's passed on while we're creating these pieces that go on the altar" (Esparza, 2:16). Are there efforts to try to capture the oral tradition that is being passed on during the creation of the altars?
