Wednesday Draft Questions - Abby Hecko

Hi! My name is Abby and I am a freshman studying computer science.

1. In the CNN article by Anneken Tappe, she quotes Darrick Hamilton by saying, "Policymakers should consider these findings to address the needs of communities disproportionately impacted by Covid-19 and the racial wealth gap more broadly." It takes time and a lot of effort not he federal and. state levels to change policy and create new policies. Rather than having to change policies and take lots of time making big changes, what are some ways people can step up in their communities?

2. In the article Protesting Trumps Immigration Policy Through Song, it states that the US government is, "focusing instead on the cruel [behavior] of immigrants, on border security." Many of the right wing politic leaders, when referring to immigrants from the south bring up drugs and illegal substances. How many immigrants actually do bring drugs and illegal substances? What percentage of immigrants are actually being suspicious in comparison to how many are just seeking a new life?

3. In the article, Farm Workers are Deemed Essential, but Not Protected, when interviewed one of the workers says they were provided with "No gloves or disinfectant supplies, he said." Clearly their jobs are essential to their incomes and lives, that is why they are working in these terrible conditions. If world gets out that they aren't safely working, with gloves and sanitizers, could there be negative consequences on their jobs?

4. In the article, Farm Workers are Deemed Essential, but Not Protected, it speaks of how. poorly the workers are being affected and how they need to work in unsafe conditions. How are their. families being affected by them working?
