Brainstorm #4 - Clarissa Lunday

Neoliberalism is the belief that government steps away from economic affairs. The main policies that Elizabeth Martinez and Arnold Garcia name are a free market, cutting social services, deregulation, privatization, and individualism. Chela Sandoval argued that dissident globalization depends on activism. These modes of activism has changed over the years and includes US third world feminism, which Sandoval that it is organized around certain points of resistance, which includes the differential mode of consciousness.

Sandoval writes, “…the differential mode of consciousness reads and interprets these technologies of power as transformable social narratives that are designed to intervene in reality for the sake of social justice” (“Dissident Globalization, Emancipatory Methods, Social-Erotics”, p.25). This is embodied in the Womxn Who Rock Archive because the unconference promotes women in music, specifically women of color in music, who are transforming the genre of music they are in. This is also a form of social justice because it opens the unconference up to the public, for free, and the oral history archive is also free for the public.
