My name is Caroline and I am very excited to get to talk to you and learn about your experiences! After going through our first week of readings I have a few questions:
1. If one were to write music about the border issues many conservatives in America would not be big fans of this. As this is compared to the asylum seekers in Australia and other similar topics brought up in Australian hip hop – are there parts of the public who do not support this music? Has there been any backlash and what has this been like?
2. Through many of our assigned readings we saw how terms such as chicano/a, latino/a, latinx, and Hispanic do not always encompass all that one wants to when referring to themselves and where they come from. When you write music how do you approach this issue?
