Monday 4/13 Questions - Olivia Brunner-Gaydos

  1. Around the 14 minute mark of the video, when they are discussing the history of Mexico, is “Indian” the preferred term for people indigenous to those lands?
  2. At 39:54, the woman is discussing how she loves the mixing of all the people who celebrate the day of the dead; how many places around the world have community day of the dead celebrations? Does it spread to other continents? Should it?
  3. On page 310 of Amelia Mesa-Bains’ “El Mundo Femenino,” Baca’s murals are described as multiracial and Chicano chronicles of history. They involve art and community and end up telling a powerful story. In what ways is this similar to the community celebrations of things like the day of the dead?
