- The many mediums of art are represented in Chicana art. According to Introduction: Invocation, Ofrenda, by Perez, Chicana artists often based their art on the “altars of their grandmothers” (5). In what techniques or representations have Chicana artists used to reflect their traditions?
- Mesa-Bains argues that education and geographic changes have influenced the ways in which Chicana women have gained power inside and outside of the home (305). This duality in position, both working a job and caring for their children, conflicts with the traditional values of Catholicism and Chicano Culture, in what ways has art given new traditions in their religion and culture?
- The documentary, La Ofrenda, states that the Day of the Dead, “reinforces cultural elements they want to keep” (33:00). Many of the elements have been influenced by imperialism and modern culture. How do changes in the world influence the cultural traditions that are chosen to be kept?
