Questions for Maya Jupiter

Thank you Maya for taking time out of your day to come to speak with us and share your story. Your work with representation for the underrepresented is truly an inspiration. A few questions I have for you today revolving around your work.

1. How was your experience traveling back to Mexico when you were 16 affect your adolescence and future outlook? Was that a pivotal moment that sparked work towards greater representation of individuals' identity?

2. What drew you to Hip-Hop as a medium for artistic expression to help advocate for greater representation and visibility for social injustice? We have seen examples of resilience in the past through other art forms but your use of hip-hop is unique in the forms we examined.
