Hi Maya,

My name is Emily and I am excited to have the opportunity to learn about your journey of music and activism! After going through our first week of readings I have a few questions:

1. Your music video puts an emphasis on breaking down borders and advocates the message of unity. I was curious, what are your main sources of inspiration when writing these powerful lyrics of culture and activism?
2. Through many of our assigned readings we saw resilience as the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties like living in the borderlands. As a feminist musician able to speak up for the oppressed, who specifically would you be interested in collaborating with to support your efforts and message of resilience?
