Week 7 Brainstorm -Linda Barragan
Through social media and the web, many justices have been served for many different communities. Social media and the Internet have been used as ways to quickly get information out to millions of people, good or bad. It also has been a driving mechanism for movements created by communities looking for a change. Social media has also helped build communities up by allowing people from many parts of the world to come together as one. Salgado's story sheds light on how many do not think of the difficulties an undocumented queer person has to go through. Many are not able to realize that it is, in fact, happening. Often time, these people are left feeling left out from their own communities and are not accepted due to cultural reasons. By finding eachother through social media and getting connecting, they are building their own little community to build resilience and gain acceptance from eachother. By doing this they are able to combat against "Social Death". -Linda Barragan
