Brainstorm #6 - Carter Rowell

The technologies in "Ceremony of Time" are "the protocols, traditions, and accords of Indigenous healing systems" in which time plays a central role (Gonzales 167). They are the spiritual practices by which one can orient themselves in the universe by respecting the past and acknowledging the future. A great example of this is alter making, which is an "accumulation of time and matter" (Gonzales 166). Alters allow for the remembering of the past and the use of remembrance as a healing method.

The thread that relates to "Girl in a Coma" is the acknowledgement of other times in order to learn, respect, and heal. The "Girl in the Sky" music video is a depiction of many different times, "illustrating how the past, present, and future of Tejano and rock collide" (Habell-Pallan 167). The music pays tribute to the music that came before and inspired them, but it also points towards social injustices as a commentary on future change. 

By demonstrating the idea of time differently, "Girl in a Coma" creates an interplay between past and future that is truly amazing, and it displays "the realm of potentiality," the potential for society to improve (Habell-Pallan 171). "Clumsy Sky" relates to covivencia because it respects the past and cultural identity while also displaying a message of societal improvement. This combination yields a society where people live together, proud and respectful of each other's identities.
