The concepts of convivencia and Chicanxfuturism are made evident in the assertion that hope for a new society capable of confronting colonial power structures lies not in state governments or political officials but rather in the peoples themselves, in communities, and in movements. As La Raza, move further into self-determination and into imagining liberated futures they are the ones who possess the roadmap forward and this roadmap is heavily informed by the ancestral knowledge and relationality of community. Self-determination viewed in this way holds the power to liberate for the future.
